A naturally occurring argillaceous (clay-rich) limestone or dolomite found in the earth that, when mined, heated (calcined), and ground, creates hydraulic cement without needing additives. Natural cement rock was popularized in the 19th century as Rosendale cement. It sets quickly and hardens underwater, making it ideal for historic canals and fortresses.
